grammar pickiness

OK cats and kittens....
A note: CF is NOT capitalized. Don't ask me why, it's just not.
So if you're writing it "Cystic Fibrosis", you are spelling it wrong. Just like you wouldn't capitalize "cancer" or "leukemia", you don't capitalize "cystic fibrosis."

Ooooookay ... here's a question.

CF is not capitalized? I know cystic fibrosis isn't ... and I can tell you why there (if you care, I just typed a long response and figured you probably know so I'm deleting it)! [side note: should that exclamation point go inside my parentheses)

My question is, should CF really be cf?

hahahah that's OK Jane.
"CF" is correctly capitalized, because (I believe) it's shorthand for something longer; an abbreviation, if you will. Like you see MS and CP, etc. , but it's really muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy.
If anyone can come up w/ something better, I'm game.
