Housekeeping

The "My transplant story" tab has been updated with video! So you can get the quick gist of the blog by reading that (if you're new), or, if you're an old hand, you can see the videos. One is the longer (5 minute) spot for the Children's Miracle Network show. The other (1 minute) is a TV spot that aired on our local CBS affiliate.

(oh, and just for the record: I do not have bangs anymore. Bad look for me. And I do not normally wear gym pants in non-gym settings. It's just that no pants fit me. I weighed 83 pounds. My jeans were about "2 sizes too small." )

Happy Birthday, Susie!

The night before her first birthday, Di's daughter Susie took her first steps!

Snow!!!

It's been snowing since late last night...not really sticking to the roads anymore (yay), and it looks so pretty.
I experimented with my camera to get some snow shots last night--I'll post those later, once I see how they actually turned out.

Seven Quick Takes Friday--Vol. XV

I.
So, I did this yesterday. And I am going to the oral surgeon to have the rest of the stitches removed today. I'm sort of a walking medical experiment right now!

II.
But, what makes me really happy? The arts are back in Columbus! The new seasons have begun and I'm  enjoying it immensely.  I went to the CSO's first classical concert last week, and tonight is Swan Lake, presented by BalletMet and the Cincinnati Ballet. If you don't have tickets, never fear! You can get them tonight! The show runs in Columbus until Sunday. I will, as always, have a post about the ballet up tonight when I get back.

III.
Re-reading J. Maarten Troost's travel books, because I need some funny lately. If you haven't read them, check them out.

IV.
And if you haven't seen this video, that I posted yesterday, it is well worth your time.

V.
Feeling OK after yesterday's biopsy. There was a little bit of total "I don't care" as a result of the drugs, meaning: "The world is ending? Oh, that's nice." It's sort of a strange and yet fun feeling. Dr. Hogan thinks they're benign cysts but we'll find out for sure when we get the pathology report next week.

VI.
The autumn colors here ROCK. I'll try to get some good pics to put up later. The trees are losing their leaves pretty quick, but the ones that are left are gorgeous.

VII.
Had dinner with my Aunt Patty last night, who was in town to pick up her daughter, Kelly. We celebrated Mel's birthday at Olive Garden (she turns 20 tomorrow, yikes!) and it was quite nice. Kelly goes to UM, but she has friends that live in Pickerington (friends of my brother's, as well) who would take her here, and her mom would pick her up and bring her home. A roundabout way to get back to the Burgh for her, but it's always nice to see the relatives.

THE cutest thing EVER

Is this video.

For context, go here.
His voice is what makes it really cute. Especially when he gets to the "I'm sick and tired..."part.
Truly adorable. I love this kid!
(Oh, and he's four--he can't read. So those pages he's holding are just props, not cheat sheets.)

Also for today

Last year's 9/11 post

Seven Quick Takes Friday--Vol. XII--the Video Edition

I.
So this is what I feel like right now:

Making a cake for my best friend's birthday dinner tonight! Longhorn for the meal and then back
here for the cake and Smiley Cookies (which are left over from the office gouging).
Note: My cakes are so much better. :)

II.
Did you see this? Get a load of my piano playing!

III.
Today is also my brother's 24th Birthday. Happy birthday Bubby!

IV.
So Steelers win last night. Me happy. What makes me unhappy is OT on a work night. Oh well.
Still a good win.

V.
Ballet class this week was excellent. I was very proud of my balances, and floor work.
We also did some work with port des bras.

VI.
Speaking of lessons--in voice, Robin is happy with my French. She had some tweaking to do
on the Italian. "He Was Despised" was very nice, except for a few random B-flats that
didn't want to cooperate. They will be forced into submission next week.

VII.
(Whoa seven already?!)
Football is upon us! Go Pitt! (And the Irish, I want them to beat Michigan, so if the Bucks
lose to USC tomorrow, Michigan won't have a better record.)

Have a good one, y'all!

Why...it's me!

A couple of notes: this was broadcast in 2006.
You can hear my GORGEOUS (ha) piano playing and see some of the apartment!
And, if you're really into it, a bit of the surgery. Bleh.
Karen's in it, too! As well as my parents, and my CF pulmonologist, the surgeon, and Dr. A,
who is my pulmonologist now. He's also wearing a very nice tie. :)
So go meet the crew.
There's also some footage of discharge day: I threw up TWICE while I put my make-up on
for the filming!

In love

with this song

From a concert at Wembley Stadium (I think) in England--they're a British group.
This song is the first on the Twilight soundtrack.

9/11 in song

"If I Had My Way"--Linda Eder

Lyrics:

Long ago and far away
Before the world had come to this
I took for granted how my life would be
Assuming that my freedom would be free.

Before these evening shadows fell
reveled in the light of day
I rarely ever cried, my patience wasn't tried
And heroes never died

But if I had my way
Things would be different
Danger wouldn't come from a sky of blue
Choices would be clear
Strangers would be kinder
Love a little blinder
As it saved the day
If I had my way

Every now and then it seems
We live our lives to such extremes
Racing all around, never homeward bound
Losing what we've found

But if I had my way
Things would be different
No one would believe that a lie was true
Choices would be clear
Wisdom would be heeded
Warnings never needed
This is what I pray
If I had my way

The milk of human kindness
Would seek us out and find us
And color all the words we say

And hearts would come alive
Instead of breaking
No one would believe
That a lie was true
Angels would appear
Children would be cherished
Hope would never perish
Faith would not betray
If I had my way

You can buy the fantastic album, Gold, here

And, the bio video, which was skipped last night but MAY be shown tonight
